这是电影之外的故事。
　　Patch说，他九岁的时候，父亲去世，而他去世之前因为是军人也不会常常在家。那他度过的童年是缺失父爱的。但这仅仅是去自杀的一个不充足的牵强的理由。一切不过是他自己的原因，他自愿的厌世，他自愿幻想出一切被雪覆盖的原野，他困在其中逃不出来。
　　而后来，他走进精神病医院接受治疗。怕松鼠的室友和4根手指的老头，终于让他体会到了快乐。那种快乐又让他忘记自己的困扰。
　　所以，Patch才会在过大的年纪去医学院读书。
　　
　　没有多少情节，都是一些零零碎碎的片段，因为不需要一个完整故事的完整意义，因为这就是每个人都活着的日子。
　　看见别人的笑脸，自己就得到一些小欢乐。为不公抗争，是自己人生里的小庄严。
　　但总也有那些绝望，觉得就是走在了悬崖边上，但看见了上帝向你投降，看见再卑小的生命也有美丽的飞翔。
