During this film, I paid a lot of attention on Grete and her mother. At that time I didn’t quite sure why they made me such interested in, maybe just because they are the typical image of the common people. They are naïve, ignorant; but also bright and powerful.
When I looking back to the human history, from the ancient time to now, I found there always has two big types of how to lead people. Made people known nothing and afraid or made people trusted and followed. The description may not quite exactly, but what I mean, the most important things that I saw in this film and learnt from this film, is centralization of state power would be a good and easy way to lead common people, but you can’t prevent people from looking for truth forever.
It’s always happened in some companies and parties. Some of leaders thought it would be easy to lead people if they know nothing. Because if they know nothing they would be hardly to give their own ideas and hardly to outcry the person who lead them. They would do work hardly if they are afraid of the boss or the rule of company. Just like the scene in that film, which the church made a performance in the square, showed people the scene of heaven and the hell. But I think it would be very hard to enjoy a job if you afraid of it at the same time.
In the film, it’s easy to found the difference about the types of leadership between Emperor and Martin Luther. And in such sensitive time which one’s is much better? The common people’s choice clearly answers this question.
