Some people worship the Coens, well, after I saw one of their most acclaimed movie FARGO, and a recent successful one NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MAN, I can absolutely assure you that their style just don't fit me. This is probably a problem of meat and poison. I have to say, I am just not comfortable with their way of expression, all the blood, the conflict, the insignificance of life weaved together in a somewhat casual way. May be that is what life is really about, while watching a movie, I am expecting something dramatic, exceptional. That's why I love FIGHT CLUB. although dealing with a universal topic, it provides us with a different style, after all, at the end of the movie I can draw a conclusion what is the real purpose of the director, what he's trying to say. But the Coen's works are totally different, at least for me. After I finished the two movies I have no idea about the theme except the relatively simple plot, usually an outlaw commits some kind of crime. It could be a frustrating experience to watch their works.
