片中另一个另我感动的人物，是fucked-up的Buddy，他将Ann大三时哲学课上递给给他的一张平常的note放在口袋里一带4年。

我得承认我对Hugh Dancy有好感，尽管他的角色总是懦弱又神经质。我也承认完全不喜欢Clair Danes，尽管她是金球奖得主。我对Ann这个角色不感冒可能就因了这个演员不讨我的喜。感觉她总是蹬着大眼睛表情夸张又怪异，大脸大嘴大眼睛大鼻子大眉毛，五官粗旷。I might be fussy,但不喜欢她不是我的错。此片阵容强大在，两对母女演员的加盟。Meryl Streep和女儿Mamie Gummer分别饰演年老和年轻时的Lila。Vanessa Redgrave饰演年老的Ann，她女儿饰演她的大女儿Connie。其实我觉得小女儿Nina的扮演者Toni Collette长的更像她，所以开始我以为Nina是她亲女儿。
片子除了爱情，母女情，姐妹情，令人动容还有两个密友之间的友情，Ann在Lila婚礼前夕，Lila在Ann病重弥留之际，拥她入怀轻拍她的背，嘴里哼着”There there, la la la…”朋友，就是在对方伤心时给予她所需要的拥抱和安慰。
三位old lady对于生命的感悟也颇引人深思。
因为Buddy的死，Harris最后娶的既不是他最爱的Ann，也不是最爱他的Lila，却给自己的儿子取名Buddy。即使多年后街头偶遇，他说I still know which stars are ours, 但是相爱的人终究不能在一起。这世间本就遗憾太多。
Ann问Lila，Don't you think at least one of us should have married Harris?
I think we did what we needed to do.
Yeah, I suppose we did.
Ann又问Lila，Have you been happy?
At times. At times I've been very unhappy.
当Nina向老年的Lila问及Haris是何方神圣，这个当年曾迷恋Haris无法自拔的小女孩已蜕变成一个睿智的女人。她平淡地说，Harris was just a boy, an unually attractive one I'd admit, but your mother had a whole life, she had you. We can't know everything she did, but I can assure you, it was a great deal.
We are mysterious creatures, aren't we? And at the end, so much of it turns out not to matter.
What happened to him? Nina好奇地追问。
He worked with the poor, got married, had children, became an old man.多么简单平实的一句话，就概括了Harris的一生。
其实谁不是这样？再轰轰烈烈的爱，再丰富热烈的闹腾，再曲折离奇的情节，再跌宕起伏的人生，还不是按照自然规律生老病死？
画面回到Ann应接不暇准备晚餐的时候，Connie一直缠着她给芭比穿衣服，而此时丈夫还将小女儿塞到她手中因为打扰他工作。Ann忍住溢出眼眶的泪，开始歌唱。
