Plot Summary:Whimsical Jane Gail has just finished a successful starring season with 'The Merry Bachelors\" and decides to go for her vacation to a remote fishing village to get the right atmosphere for her new part in the next production. She leaves her husband Charles Craig and their child Mimi, both of whom she loves devotedly, and sets out on her journey. She arrives at the village and secures rooms at the house of a widow, Mrs. Moore, whose fisherman son Matthew is her sole support. Jane conceals the fact that she is married and an actress, and soon the impressionable young fisherman is head over heels in love with her. Jane is delighted, as it is in accord with her new part, so she leads him on, until he worships the very ground she walks on. The golden days go on without a shadow to disturb the young fisherman's happiness, until like a bolt from the blue sky, Jane sends for husband and child, and on their arrival the fisherman finds out how he has been fooled. The shock leaves him dazed with grief, and the sight of the other man kissing Jane makes him yearn for vengeance. He decoys the husband to his boat, knocks him senseless and takes him to the treacherous manacles rocks, which the seas sweep over at high tide. Jane, frightened at her husband's absence, asks the fisherman where he is. He with fiendish glee, hands her his telescope and points him out to her on the rocks, with the waves dashing over him. She begs with him to save her husband, but he pushes her roughly away and tells him that she has to pay for her sport. Realizing that he is in earnest, she holds up her child Mimi, who pleads for her father's life. The fisherman, touched by the child's pleading, grimly sets out in his boat, only just in time to save the husband, whom he delivers back to the wife and child and then sternly bids him, \"Keep your woman away from men, because sometimes they are apt to make mistakes.\"
