Plot Summary:Set in rural Nova Scotia, a young boy is witness to his father's attempts to keep his failing grandmother alive, while the boy's mother struggles to provide for her only the best quality of life during the woman's last days. Isolated from his family and more conscious of his world than he is credited for, the boy's growing alienation from the innocence of his youth reveals his grim understanding of life and death on the cold Canadian coast.
