Plot Summary:When creating something new, a person usually turns to himself first. As I have done in my previous films, I once again decided to address a past experience. 'Dogwood' is my most memorable story, the one that I never forget. It is perhaps because I seem to be the antagonist in the story. And this film is my apology. As I told the story, I wanted to include the political conditions of the period. After all, we are a lost generation, one whose characters were shaped by that period. We were told not to read books, and to behave ourselves and stay out of the action... Many movies set in the eighties have been made so far, and each has addressed the issue from different perspectives. I wanted to depict the militarism, the torture, the psychological pressures through the teacher, and portray brothers killing one another through a child beating a friend. I am also asking whether we are the ones that determine who we become, or whether the world we live in shapes us. Do the events make us who we are?
